Oak Ridge, NC -- Some Oak Ridge Elementary parents told WFMY News 2 their kids are getting nervous about going to school at a military academy while their school is cleaned up.
"Her biggest question was, 'Do I have to wear a uniform? Am O going to have to stand at attention and do pushups and say 'yes sir' and 'no sir'?' She was more concerned about the discipline of it than the actual environment," said Tom Malone, father of a second grader at Oak Ridge Elementary.
The Guilford County Western District Superintendent, Angelo Kidd, says around 500 of the Oak Ridge Elementary students will head to the military academy at the start of school.
The academy's president said they've worked hard to make sure all the children will be together and in a typical elementary classroom environment. Elementary students will have to share a cafeteria, but will be separated from academy students.
Right now there isn't an open house date set for the Oak Ridge Elementary students, but Kidd says there will be one prior to the start of school.
