Greensboro, NC -- The American Red Cross honored the UNCG police department for saving two lives in a span of six months Thursday afternoon.

Members of the police department used an Automated External Defibrillator or AED device on a student who collapsed in class. Corporal Joe Allison also saved a UNCG police department employee's life.

The American Red Cross gave the department a Certificate of Merit award. The honor goes to a person(s) nominated for saving a life and who has completed Red Cross training in first aid, CPR, AED or aquatics prior to saving a life.

The Red Cross offers flexible training programs. You can find out about the Red Cross programs by visiting their website or by contacting the Greensboro Chapter at (336)333-2111.
