Dobson, NC -- Marcos Gonzalez, the man accused of shooting and killing four people in Mount Airy, appeared before a Surry County judge on Tuesday.
Gonzalez was extradited from Henry County where deputies found him at a hotel following the killings on Monday night. He is charged with four counts of first degree murder. He is also being charged with failing to register as a sex offender.
No bond was set for Gonzalez and he was granted a court appointed attorney. The capital defenders office in Raleigh will determine who that attorney is since it is a first degree murder case.
Gonzalez is accused of shooting and killing brothers, Javier Manuel Martinez, and Juan Manuel Martinez, their cousin, Alfonso Martinez-Jimenez and an acquaintance, Marcos Oviedo-Aguilar in front of a Mount Airy TV store on Sunday.
Gonzalez's next court appearance is set for December 17.
