Man In Wheelchair Hit By Car In Downtown Winston-Salem

Winston-Salem, NC -- Police say a man was crossing the street in his motorized wheelchair when it was hit by a car.

Winston-Salem Police say 77-year-old Walter Murrill was crossing Sixth Street around 9:00 Saturday morning when he was hit by a Toyota Corolla.

Murrill was taken to Baptist Hospital with non-life threatening injures.

The driver of the car, 25-year-old Jeffrey Tiberii, will not be charged. Police say speed and alcohol were not factors in the wreck.
