Kernersville, NC -- Students at Kernersville Middle School want those in need to have a happy Thanksgiving.

Friday wrapped up their Thanksgiving food drive. Kids helped stack donations to give to local food banks next week.

School leaders say it's a lesson in community service for all kids.

"This is only one way that we kind of teach our kids that you can give back, and it's a good feeling to know that you've helped someone else," said principal Debbie Brooks.

The school's goal is 3,000 cans of food, and donations will help communities throughout Forsyth County.
