Archdale, NC -- A local man is trying to make the holidays better for less fortunate families.

Today, William Wood, owner of Archdale Outdoor Supply Inc., went to the North Carolina mountains and brought back a truck load of Christmas trees for his tree lot.

This year, Wood is starting a program called Trees for Treasures. They'll give trees to families of kids who won't have one, unless someone else steps in. "It really made me think these kids they never have a tree, and I think all kids should have a Christmas tree, there's no reason for any kid to go without, grow up without having a Christmas tree."

Wood will also donate some of the tree proceeds to other the Austin Reddick foundation, supporting a local teen battling Leukemia, and COAT -- a community outreach organization.

Trees range in size from one foot to 14 feet and in price from $18 to $80. You can donate money to the cause or buy a tree for someone else. Outdoor Supply is located at 10559 N. Main Street in Archdale, NC. For more information, call: 336-434-1943.
