Greensboro, NC -- Thanksgiving is traditionally filled with family, turkey and travel...but if you have some extra time, here are a couple local places you can visit and things you can do!

Things to do on Thanksgiving Day:

-- Gobbler 5k race: Starts at 9:00 am at Greensboro Country Park. Registration at the event is $25.

-- Thanksgiving Day Hash run: Starts at 9:00 am at The McNeil's

-- Asheboro Thanksgiving Day Parade: Starts at 10:00 am

-- Give blood in memory of Sgt. Mickey Hutchens at First Baptist Church in Yadkinville from 9:30 am until 2:00 pm. To make an appointment call (336) 919-4644.

-- See FREE Christmas lights at Pilot Mountain Christmas from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm.

-- Visit the polar bears at the NC Zoo in Asheboro. They are open from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm.

-- Ride through the Tanglewood Park Festival of Lights from 6:00 pm until 11:00 pm.

-- Watch WFMY! We'll carry the CBS Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Oakland at Dallas game and our newscasts will air in the morning, at noon, at 7:30 and at 11:00.

-- Harper's Restaurant at Friendly Center in Greensboro

-- All area Cracker Barrel restaurants

-- All K & W restaurants

-- WS Prime on N. Cherry St in Winston-Salem
