Greensboro, NC -- When a family is barely able to afford the necessities, buying Christmas gifts seems like an impossible dream. But that doesn't stop children from wanting presents.

That's why 26 local churches filled with heroes stepped in to make the impossible, possible.

The event served more than 900 children, that's serving 350 families. More than 600 volunteers that helped the families as well. The Christmas Store Coordinator Elizabeth Montgomery says the event gets people in the Christmas spirit. "It's something that makes you feel good and its a way that we live out our faith."

People only paid a dollar to get in, then got to select clothes and toys for each person in the family. Shopper Dominique Lancaster says, "I really feel appreciative right now because I wasn't able to get too much for my kids but this right here really helped out... alot."

Volunteers helps shoppers as soon as they got out of their cars. Families took pictures and children played while parents shopped. Shoppers even enjoyed cider and cocoa while volunteers wrapped their gifts for them.

Because of this store, every child from every family that shopped today, will have a gift come Christmas morning.

If you would like your church to get involved next year you can contact the West Market Street United Methodist church office to find out how. They're located at 302 West Market Street. The phone number is: 336.275.4587
