Movie Starring Ed Asner To Film In Triad

High Point, NC-- The Piedmont Triad Film Commission confirmed that movie star Ed Asner will be in the Triad starting this weekend to film a movie. The movie was written by High Point University Professor, Ed Simpson. The Movie titled "Elephant Sighs" is scheduled to begin filming Sunday, January 3.

Rebecca Clark with the Piedmont Triad Film Commission told WFMY News 2, most of the filming will take place in and around High Point. Clark said this will be a big boost to the Triad economy because the production company will hire all local crews. Local businesses will also benefit from food places to hotels.

Clark also told WFMY News 2 this will be Asner's second movie in 10 years that he has filmed in the Triad. His first movie 'Above Suspicion' was released in 2000.

Filming is scheduled to go from Sunday, January 3 through Sunday, January 24. Elephant Sighs, has been performed in theaters around the country. A new production company, New Garden Media, will produce it and Simpson will be directing.

Ed Asner has won seven Emmys for his roles on CBS shows including The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Lou Grant and Roots. Two of Asner's co-stars are said to be John Cariani, Jack Kehler and David Wells.
