Greensboro, NC -- North Carolina A&T students are turning blue and gold into green.
They're creating a rain garden at Stockwell Hall on campus.
The rain garden will demonstrate water-wise, chemical-free and low-maintenance landscaping.
Rain from the building's roof will be filtered as it flows into the garden.
Some of the plants in the rain garden will eventually grow fruit which students can pick and eat.
The project was made possible after the A&T student chapter of American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers won a national student competition in sustainable design from the Environmental Protection Agency for 2009/2010. The award was for $10,000.
