Iredell County, NC -- A small single-engine plane sank in Lake Norman after crash landing Tuesday evening.
Emergency officials in Iredell County say the BEECH F33A Fixed Wing Single-Engine crashed around 7:20 near the town of Sherrills Ford. That is on the Catawba County side of the lake.
Charlotte CBS affiliate, WBTV, learned that the pilot was able to escape the plane without serious injury.
The Federal Aviation Administration says the plane was heading to Lake Norman Airpark from Greensboro when it began to experience engine trouble.
After crash landing on the lake, it sank into the water.
The FAA says it's not clear who was piloting the plane, but it is co-registered to Sean McGrath of Chicago and Vishnu Mathur.
