Reidsville, NC -- It's the talk of the town.
A driver crashed into the Confederate Soldiers Monument in Reidsville last week.
The century-old statue on Morehead street is now in need of repair. The city hasn't yet decided whether to spend the money.
Now, the monument has its own Facebook page. The Save the Reidsville Confederate Monument page has nearly 600 people supporting it.
An empty spot lies where the statue once stood. We asked people on the street how they feel about bringing it back, and a lot of them want the original repaired.
Interim city manager Michael Pierce said the city is looking to see if the statue can be repaired or replaced.
He said city council members are listening to the opinions of Reidsville residents.
If you want to tell them what you think, they will hear speakers during the public comment period at the June 8 city council meeting. It starts at 3:00 pm.
