NC Redistricting Map 2011 - 2nd Draft
Guilford County, NC -- Nearly 270,000 Guilford County residents will receive a new voter information card in the mail this week.
They'll have new county commissioners, State House and Senate, U.S. House and local school board representatives.
The district lines were redrawn after the 2010 census.
The voter card will tell you where your new district is so you know who represents you now or who will run to represent you.
The card will also tell you if your polling place has changed.
According to Guilford County Board of Elections Director George Gilbert, mailing the cards cost about 100 thousand dollars.
Although it's not required by law, officials say the process is necessary.
"Its pretty hard for someone to study the candidates and determine who they want to vote for if they don't know which district they're in before they get to the polling place," said Gilbert.
There are 165 voting precincts in Guilford County.
Only about 10 percent is not affected by redistricting.
