Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - The Arizona Diamondbacks placed outfielder
Chris Young on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday with a right shoulder
contusion.
Young injured the shoulder in the fourth inning of Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the
Pirates when he made a spectacular catch in a full sprint in left-center field
before his momentum sent him shoulder first into the wall.
The 28-year-old outfielder ranks second in the NL with five home runs and is
tied for third with 13 runs batted in over the first 11 games of the season.
The Diamondbacks also selected the contract of infielder Cody Ransom from
Triple-A Reno to fill Young's roster spot. Ransom has two home runs and nine
RBI over 10 games with the Aces this season.
