New York, NY (Sports Network) - Major League Baseball suspended Cleveland
Indians pitcher Jeanmar Gomez for five games for intentionally throwing at and
hitting Kansas City's Mike Moustakas during last Saturday's game.
The incident took place in the bottom of the third inning. Gomez was also
fined an undisclosed amount.
Unless appealed, Gomez is scheduled to begin serving his suspension during
Cleveland's game Wednesday against the Seattle Mariners. If Gomez elects to
file an appeal, then the discipline issued to him will be held in abeyance
until the process is complete.
