Greensboro, NC-- Mahatma Ghandi said "Be the change you want to see in the world" and a 10 year-old Greensboro girl is doing just that.
Logan Forbis is challenging church members and the Greensboro Community to put the shoe on the another foot. Logan's church Christ United Methodist is going to Kenya on a mission trip this summer. After hearing about the trip, Logan spoke with the former pastor about helping children in Kenya get shoes.
Jan Britton, who was that pastor, suggested that Logan raise money instead. Britton said it would be easier and more efficient for mission members to buy the shoes while in Africa rather than trying to travel with them or ship them.
And an idea was born and Logan's family and mission members all got involved in some way.
Logan organized a run/walk that was held during Sunday school hour today at Christ United Methodist. Logan called the race "Put the Shoe On Another Foot."
Through their research it was learned that $5.00 pays for a Cobbler to make one handmade pair of shoes.
Logan's hard work has paid off. As of today she has helped raise $2,266.29. Enough to buy 453 pairs of shoes.
Logan Forbis is a fifth grader who is changing lives of children a world away.
