Greensboro, NC-- A Greensboro man who plays basketball for East Carolina University is facing gun charges.
According to the US Marshal's Office, they arrested and charged Shamarr Bowden, 22 Monday afternoon in a parking lot.
Bowden was taken into custody without incident in the parking lot of the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA on East Market Street.
Officers said Bowden was wanted for Criminal Possession of a Loaded Weapon and Prohibited Use of a Firearm by the Rochester Police Department. The charges stemmed from a party over Easter weekend when Bowden allegedly brandished a .45 caliber handgun and fired several rounds into the air.
Bowden was booked into the Guilford County Detention Center.
According to ECU's website Bowden plays guard and is listed as a Junior at the school.
