Greensboro, NC -- You often hear about the importance of eating certain foods in moderation, and the includes sugar.
News 2's Lauren Melvin is working on a story for Tuesday at 11pm about why so many experts believe all the sugar we're eating is toxic.
According to researchers, on average, Americans consume 150 grams of sugar each day - that's 37 and a half teaspoons. That's talking about added sugar, not natural sugar.
"Based on what we see in our food environment now, I think it is fair to say that sugar can be toxic to us," said Dr. Gary Miller with Wake Forest University's Health and Exercise Science Department.
