Greensboro, NC -- You've seen the signs in yards across the Triad. You've seen and heard the ads. It's the only debatable item on Tuesday's ballot. It's the constitutional amendment to define marriage.
According to the News and Observer, the coalition to protect NC families is the largest group opposing the amendment. It has raised more than $2 million to fight it.
The paper says the largest group supporting the amendment is "Vote For Marriage NC." It's raised more than a million dollars to get it passed.
The ballot reads:
"Constitutional Amendment to provide that marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this state."
With all the discussions going on about this amendment, we want to give you an opportunity to hear both sides.
Tonight, we brought in two people on each side for a structured discussion. Each person will be asked three questions and have 30 seconds to respond.
Our guests for the amendment:
Jesse Wilson from Vote For Marriage NC, and Pastor Richard Callahan of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Archdale. Pastor Callahan is on the board of the Return America organization.
Our guests against the amendment:
Will Robinson with the Coalition To Protect NC Families, and Dr. M. Gray Clark of Presbyterian Church Of The Cross and a member of the Greensboro People Of Faith Against Amendment One.
