Winston-Salem, NC - A Winston-Salem police officer appeared before a judge Wednesday morning after he was charged with Assault On A Female.
Police said they were called to a home around 5pm Tuesday where a woman claimed her boyfriend slapped her and threw a TV remote at her right elbow after they had an argument.
Officer Rudolfo Zermeno was arrested and placed in Forsyth County Detention Center under no bond. The following morning Zermeno appeared before Judge Graham and was issued a $1,000 bond. Judge Graham ordered Zermeno not to contact his girlfriend and was taken back into custody.
Criminal Investigations Division and Professional Standards Division are investigating this incident. Zermeno has been placed on administrative leave, which is protocol for investigations involving a police officer.
Zermeno has served with Winston-Salem PD for three years.
