Greensboro, NC -- When Harris Teeter offered $50,000 for an arrest in a string of armed robberies at its stores on May 30, Crime Stoppers coordinators expected they'd get a lot of calls. So far, they've only gotten one.

While that's a disappointing number, any one call could crack this case because detectives are sure someone here in the Piedmont knows the suspects.

Investigators say since Christmas Eve, two masked men have held up seven different Harris Teeter stores in High Point, Winston Salem and Greensboro. They are asking for help identifying the suspects, as they haven't gotten as much new information as they hoped this reward could create.

"Somebody knows something," Greensboro Guilford Crime Stoppers coordinator Becky Fallon said last week. "Somebody out there knows who is committing these crimes and they're going to call, especially now when you put $50,000 up as a reward. It's huge."

Police from all three Triad cities are working together and think the local crimes are connected. They haven't said whether they could be linked to three recent Harris Teeter hold-ups around Charlotte.

The leader of the Greensboro Police Department's Criminal Investigative Division said putting an end to the robberies is the robbery squad's top priority.

If you know anything that could help investigators, call Crime Stoppers at 373-1000.
