(Martinsville, VA) -- Last night, at approximately 11:05 pm, the Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center received a call that an individual had been shot at a residence on Lakewood Trail Martinsville, VA.
Deputies arrived at the residence and discovered that Cornelius Pernell Brim, 37, had sustained a single gunshot to the front of his right shoulder. He was transported to Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County where he was treated for a non-life threatening injury.
Brim's wife, Sarah Ward Hairston, 45, has been charged with Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony and Discharging a Firearm within an Occupied Dwelling. All charges are felonies. Hairston was jailed without bond.
