Kernersville, NC -- The power on Main St. in Kernersville is back on after crews repaired transformers that caught fire this morning.

Forsyth County Communications said crews had to shut off the power on Main St. to safely work on the transformers.

Officers with the Kernersville Police Department were stationed at every corner on Main St. redirecting traffic in the city.

There were more than 1800 reported power outages at the time in Forsyth County with most of those being in Kernersville, according to Duke Energy.

Crews restored power right before 12:30 p.m.
