  • Triad --  A storm system that's blamed for tornadoes in New York, the rescheduling of the US Open and stormy weather across the Triad will mean sunshine and cooler temperatures when it's all over.

While storms were making their way through the Triad, it caused power outages and the delay of the UNC/Wake Forest football game in Winston Salem.

The severe thunderstorm watches and warnings have been cancelled early for the Triad but we still have the potential for a few showers and thunderstorms the rest of the evening.  However, the strongest storms have progressed on to the east.

The good news is that after tonight, fall-like weather will return.  There is a fresh new air  mass behind the front.  That will mean cooler temperatures- upper 70s on Sunday.  Our rain chances will be almost zero and the humidity will be quite low.

If you've been waiting for the cooler and drier air, the wait is almost over.  In the meantime, continue to watch for storms this evening.
