Greensboro, NC -- September marks the one-year anniversary of the Greensboro Aquatics Center's opening to the public.
The GAC hosted an open house Saturday afternoon where visitors could take tours of the center and learn about all the programs the Aquatics Center offers.
In a year, the center hosted 36 swim meets, featuring more than 15,000 swimmers and a total attendance of 120,820 people, according to a release from Andrew Brown, the Greensboro Coliseum's public relations manager.
The Greensboro Area Convention & Visitors Bureau has projected that, to date, the economic impact of all GAC events is almost $42 million.
The group says the center's bookings through 2016 will exceed $76 million.
Thirty-nine events are booked to come to the center in the next 12 months, including 2013 ACC Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, along with the YMCA Short Course Championships.
