Montgomery County, NC -- The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said they caught a 16-year-old student with a gun on campus.
The school resource officer that said he received information that that student would be in possession of drugs. When the student arrived on campus, the principal and a deputy escorted him to the office, where a 22 caliber revolver slid down his leg and onto the floor. The SRO secured the gun and found it was unloaded. The student said he brought it to school for protection.
A Special Ops Detective arrested the student and charged him with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a handgun by a minor, and having a gun on educational property. He's in the Montgomery County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
