Kernersville, NC -- Kernersville Police officers came across a meth lab while serving an arrest warrant, according to the Kernersville Police Department.
The officers went to 216-29 Bost Street Tuesday to serve Darrell J. Akers with the warrant for assaulting a female. While officers were searching that area, they found Akers and another man, Larry Flippo, in what police call a working methamphetamine lab.
Akers, 31, was served with the outstanding warrant for assault on a female and new charges of manufacturing a controlled substance (methamphetamine). He was denied bond on the assault charge and has a $45,000 secured bond on the drug charge. He is being held in the Forsyth County Detention Center.
Flippo, 40, was also charged with manufacturing a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and is also under a $45,000 secured bond in the Forsyth County Detention Center.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation was called in to dismantle the lab and help clean up.
