GREENSBORO - Guilford County Schools wants the public to decide what to do with $72 million.

Here are the options:

  1. Use the money to repair and renovate several schools in the county. Repairs include roofing and HVAC systems.
  2. Build a middle/high school in the northwest area near the airport.

The school board is giving people in Guilford county the option because taxpayers voted for a bond that included the new school in the airport-area project.

The sluggish economy and airport rezoning has delayed the need for a new school in the area. The board said the projected number of students just isn't there.

The district is putting several public input sessions on the calendar. News 2 will announce the dates and times when the sessions are decided.
