Triad -- High pressure has been in control of our weather this weekend. We continue on that trend through the rest of Sunday. Sunny to partly cloudy skies will prevail with highs in the low to mid 70s.
Unfortunately, the high pressure system can't hold on forever. A new low will win out starting on Monday. As early as tonight, clouds will increase across the Piedmont. That will make for a warmer start to Monday morning. Lows will only fall to the upper 50s.
Monday will bring our best rain chance of the week. A cold front will move across North Carolina and give us a chance of showers or even a thunderstorm the first half of the day. There could still be a few showers hanging around in the afternoon as the front makes progress. Most of the heaviest rain should be across the coastal plain by evening.
The whole system clears out by Tuesday. The sun will return, along with a little cooler temperatures, for the middle of the week.
