Alamance County, NC -- The Alamance County Sheriff's Office received a Cyber Tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Following an investigation, deputies executed a search warrant at William Todd Flowers' house. He's a registered sex offender, and is currently on probation.
On October 25, 2012, they charged Flowers with with Failing to Register Online Identifiers and Sex Offender on a Social Network and put in the Alamance County Jail under $100,000 bond.
The Alamance County Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force examined digital devices seized in the search warrant of Flowers' home. In looking at the devices, deputies identified a juvenile victim. As a result, Flowers was arrested at the Alamance Criminal Courts Building the next day for additional charges. He allegedly used social networks to coerce a minor to create child pornography and to meet for sex. The investigation is on-going and additional charges are pending.
In all he was charged with:
2 counts 1st degree sexual exploitation of a minor
2 counts 3rd degree sexual exploitation of a minor
1 count of a sex offender on a social network
2 counts failure to register an online identifier
1 count soliciting a child by a computer
1 count resist, obstruct, delay and officer
