Yadkinville, NC-- An infant is dead, and the sheriff's office said it may have been an "unpreventable tragedy."
The Yadkin County Sheriff's Office said they received a call around 11:30 a.m. Friday about a dog bite. When deputies arrived, they learned that a 3-month-old had been bitten by the family's dog.
The child was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Tuesday, the sheriff's office said in a news release that the child died from injuries associated with the bites.
Sheriff William Oliver said, "At this time, it appears this was an unpreventable tragedy."
