Thomasville, NC -- Detectives are still investigating a fatal accident that happened Saturday evening involving a pedestrian on National Highway.
Police responded to the scene of the accident at 5:51 p.m. and found Gussie E. Pearson, 50, lying unresponsive on the highway. Investigators determined that a car traveling south on National Highway hit Pearson and kept driving.
The driver, 21-year-old Ronald Warren, later returned to the scene and told police he was responsible.
Pearson later died from his injuries at Thomasville Medical Center.
Police are still investigating the accident and will work with the Davidson County District Attorney on the case.
