Shelby, NC -- A gust of wind blew down part of a concert stage in Cleveland County Saturday night, forcing organizers to cancel a concert for a popular Christian band.
WBTV reported the winds started picking up while the band, Mercy Me, was on stage. Organizers say the band left the stage as straight-line winds blew through the area.
Workers were breaking down the stage when part of the scaffolding and rigging collapsed, WBTV reported.
No one was injured in the collapse.
It all happened around 6 p.m. before fans arrived at the concert. Some fans said they made it to the venue and saw white chairs stacked up and crews tearing down the rest of the stage.
WBTV says volunteers say the concert is not likely to be rescheduled because of other tour commitments.
Organizers say the stage will be relocated for the venue's upcoming concerts featuring Ronnie Millsaps and Sara Evans this week in Shelby.
