ASHEBORO - Many are stepping up to help the Honor Guard pay for a new van.
The Honor Guard spends thousands to travel to veterans' funerals. They give honorable funerals to our heroes at no charge to the families.
They spend about $1,500 on gas every month. Since our first report, many have stepped up to help.
Commander Howard Breedlove with the Honor Guard says a handful of dealerships and mechanics have offered their services and dozens have called to donate money.
There will be an auction ad benefit dinner to help raise money for the Randolph County Honor Guard September 7 from 4 to 7 p.m.
The dinner is at Sunset Church of God at 900 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Tickets for dinner are $7 and kids 4-years old and under eat for free.
Their gal is to raise $30,000.
