Greensboro, NC-- A popular chicken chain in Greensboro has closed. A former employee told WFMY News 2 that the Popeyes on Pisgah Church Road in Greensboro closed Friday.
According to the employee, they closed without giving workers notice. Employees were supposed to get paid Tuesday but haven't been given their checks.
The employee that contacted us says she doesn't know if they'll reopen or why they closed. * A sign on the door said the business is closed "temporarily".
News 2 also reached out the Popeye's corporate communications. We have not heard back.
So what if your place of work closed without notice and without pay?
Here's some resources we found:
If you want to file a wage complaint, contact the North Carolina Department of Labor at 1-800-N-C LABOR
If you need unemployment insurance, contact the North Carolina Employment Security Commission.
The local chapter will also help you find new work if your employer unexpectedly closes its doors. Their number is (336) 334-5777.
On Wednesday, the Employment Security Commission in Greensboro told News 2 they were not aware that Popeye's had closed.
