High Point, NC-- Monday night High Point City Council members heard from the public about an incentive package they want to offer a furniture manufacturer.
BuzziSpace which is a Belgian company is looking at High Point for its U.S. manufacturing operations. According to High Point Economic Development Corp. (HPEDC), the company would take over an empty 105,000 square foot building in the 1200 block of Redding Drive.
The building is the former Pickett Cotton Mill and is about a century old, the HPEDC said in a news release.
The incentives package of $162,000 passed with only one councilmember voting against the offer.
The biggest winner would be people looking for job. BuzziSpace would hire 113 fulltime workers, with an average yearly salary of $41,011.
This would also mean $1.6 million to High Point and Guilford County's tax base.
Guilford County Commissioners plan to hold a hearing Thursday, September 19 at its meeting on an incentive package worth $113,000 for BuzziSpace.
