GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Guilford County Historic Preservation Commission is calling for an emergency meeting to discuss the future of the Kilby Hotel in High Point.
The commission wants to hear from the public, city leaders and the hotel's owners to determine if the historic landmark should be demolished.
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m. It will take place in Greensboro at 201 W. Market St. in the BB&T Conference Room on the third floor.
Last week, the High Point Fire Department barricaded the area around the hotel after concerned citizens reported cracking sounds coming from the building.
The Kilby Hotel was popular among traveling musicians and was a focal point for the African American community in High Point.
