Greensboro, NC -- Discount airline Allegiant Air announced this morning it will continue flights from Greensboro to Florida. An announcement from the company says that departure of Skybus paved the way for the return of service to PTI.
"The presence of Skybus was a destabilizing factor for us at Piedmont Triad and a significant factor behind our original decision to withdraw," Robert Ashcroft, vice president of planning for Allegiant, said. "We preferred to stay clear of a company acting in ways we did not understand. We certainly did not predict Skybus would simply cease service last week. With Skybus no longer a factor, we are delighted to re-commit to the Triad."
The airline will offer introductory fares as low as $39 one way to Orlando and Tampa Bay and $49 to Fort Lauderdale.
Beginning June 1st, the airline will operate a new schedule to its Florida locations. It will fly Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday to Orlando. Wednesday and Saturday to St. Pete.
The Fort Lauderdale flights will resume June 2, flying out of PTI on Monday and Friday.
