Greensboro, NC - Many families across the Triad have loved ones serving in the military, and a Greensboro dentist is about to join them. Dr. Guy Ribando is a Major in the U.S. Army Reserve and reports to Fort Benning in Georgia on Saturday.

"I am a little bit cautious about leaving my family and my practice, but overall I think it will be a good experience," Ribando said. "There's a critical need in the military. They don't nearly have enough providers to service all the soldiers."

While his wife, Kerrie, will certainly miss him, but she is proud of what he is doing.

"I think it's a good opportunity for him to use what he has," she said.

She hasn't had to worry about Guy in this manner before.

"Now it's Iraq. It's a bit different," she said.

The family can't wait for his deployment to be over.

"I'll be so proud of him when he comes home," Kerrie said. "I think that I was proud being his wife before. Now, to know that he's done his part to serve our country is pretty remarkable."

Major Ribando's deployment is expected to last 100 days. The family expects to be able to communicate on a daily basis. He reports to Fort Benning on March 28 and goes to Iraq a week later.
