Winston-Salem Man Cited For Shooting BB Gun Near A School

Winston-Salem, NC-- Officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department responded to a reported discharging of a firearm behind the playground of Old Town Elementary School, on Reynolda Rd. A witness reported seeing a man discharge a rifle into the air beside a home in the 3800 blk of Talcott Ave, which is visible from the school grounds.

Investigators went to address on Talcott Ave and located Corey McNeil, who admitted shooting a BB rifle into the air and surrendered weapon to the officers.

McNeil was cited for a violation of Winston-Salem City Code Section 38-11, pertaining to the use of BB guns within the city limits. Officers say he did not discharge the BB gun towards the school or students.
