Winston-Salem, NC -- Local tobacco company workers are taking it to the streets to protest a proposed tax increase on cigarettes.

Reynolds America says more than 400 employees will protest in Raleigh on June 16, 2009.

The group is rallying to oppose Governor Perdue's proposed $1 per pack tax increase on cigarettes sold in the state.

Planning to join the employees will be the mayors of Winston-Salem, Tobaccoville and King as well representatives from the North Carolina legislature. Tobacco growers, suppliers
and friends of the industry have also been invited.
