Burlington, NC -- Alamance/Burlington School District leaders could scrap hundreds of teachers' jobs.
School board members have a plan for job cuts, but they're not revealing it yet.
That's the word late Monday from Caron Myers, the district's spokeswoman.
Myers says board members want to talk to teachers first.
An announcement could come in the next few days, eliminating as many as 200 or more teachers.
One Western Alamance teen is fighting to save her teachers from the chopping block.
Taylor Knox has been collecting signatures to help prevent teachers' pay cuts and job cuts. The sophomore took her battle to the school board Monday night.
Taylor told WFMY News 2 the school board supported her, but there's no sign her petition will stop the cuts.
The board did reveal next year's budget, which Myers calls a bare bones budget. It's a 2% increase over last year's budget, instead of the normal 9% increase.
