
Greensboro, NC-- In a busy, hot Saturday afternoon police were called to two shootings that happened less than an hour apart. Police say the incidents are not connected and are still investigating both. (See link for details on other shooting)
Police say they responded to the 2300 block of Phillips Avenue on a shooting around 2pm Saturday and found a man with a gunshot wound.
Eyewitnesses told officers, someone attempted to rob Valentine Rojas, struck him in the head with a handgun, and then shot him. The person then removed Rojas' wallet while he was lying on the ground.
The suspect then fled the area with an unknown black male in an older model black Toyota Station Wagon.
Rojas was transported to Moses Cone Hospital for surgery. Police are asking anyone with additional information to please come forward. You can call crimestoppers at 373-1000, you don't have to reveal your identity.
