Green Level, NC -- A war over water is boiling in Alamance County. Families in Green Level say their bills are unbearable some of them hundreds of dollars a month.

Their water comes from Haw River and that community gets it's water from Burlington after it passes through a water treatment facility in Graham.

Haw River charges the Town of Green Level at a rate equal to half of Haw River's water system operating cost. But neighbors say Green Level is much smaller, uses much less water and is charged too much.

Neighbors voiced their complaints at a meeting Thursday night. Town leaders say they're renegotiating prices with Haw River. They're also considering building their own treatment center or building their own pipeline to Burlington.
