How long can one person volunteer for the good of others without needing a break? How about at least half a century!
This month's "2 Those Who Care" recipient has been working for the good of the American Red Cross for over 57 years. Ed Welch started giving blood when he was in basic training in the army. Now, at 76 years old, Ed works diligently everyday to get people to donate blood. He says in the last 12 years, he has signed up about 27-thousand blood donors.
When asked when he plans to take a break, he says he can't imagine giving up this life saving volunteer work.
