Greensboro, NC -- High Point native Fantasia Barrino began an eight-day run as the star of "The Color Purple" at War Memorial Auditorium.
It's Barrino's Triad-area stage debut.
She stars as "Celie" in the touring production of "The Color Purple."
The American Idol Season Three winner also starred in the Broadway run of the play.
Thursday on the Good Morning Show, WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain will have a sit-down interview with Barrino.
