Greensboro, NC -- The FBI is honoring the Greensboro Crime Stoppers program for its community outreach efforts.
Special Agent Owen Harris of Charlotte recognized the department in a ceremony Tuesday. Greensboro Crime Stoppers was chosen out of 150 cities for this year's FBI Director's Community Leadership Award. Volunteers say they couldn't have done it without your help. "Tips come in from the community and citizens. So, there is also a gratitude we have for donations and the support of citizens that give us calls that lead to information to make arrests," said Police Chief Tim Bellamy. Greensboro police say Crime Stoppers has helped solve at least 65% of their cases. You can help fight crime in your neighborhood and even get a cash reward by calling in tips to Crime Stoppers.
