Wilkes County, NC-- Wilkes County Sheriff Dane Mastin said they are investigating a shooting death that happened early Wednesday morning.
Mastin told WFMY News 2 that William Sprinkle died after being shot in the chest with a handgun. He said they've charged Courtney Scott with Sprinkle's murder.
The shooting happened on the porch of a home located on Beginnings Street, which is located in North Wilkesboro. Mastin said the shooting was about money owed.
Sheriff Mastin said he can't release any other details surrounding the shooting because the case is still under investigation. He said the men did know each other.
Scott is in the Wilkes County jail.
WFMY News 2 did a criminal background check on both men and found they each have criminal records with the NC Dept. of Corrections.
