Rockingham County, NC -- The 28 year-old mother who was killed by a fallen tree Wednesday night had a passion for riding horses and owned several of them, according to her neighbors.
Terra Swinney was killed when a tree fell on her Nissan Pathfinder on Witty Road around 7:45 pm, about a mile and a half north of US 158 in Rockingham County. Troopers said she was on the phone with her husband, Kerry, when it happened.
Troopers said her two year-old son, Tristen, was in the back seat and survived, with minor injuries.
Swinney was the president of Bridlewood Executive Suites in Greensboro, a business center. Prior to that, she taught seventh grade at the Academy at Lincoln in Greensboro.
