Greensboro, NC -- What's the real story behind NASCAR and moonshine? NASCAR Legend and former bootlegger Junior Johnson joined us this morning.
He'll be part of the Carolina Shine Festival this weekend in Downtown Madison. But this morning, he was giving us his stories!
Johnson said it was easy to drive fast when he was running moonshine back in the day, because there was no one on the road. He says when he did see the law, his car was fast enough to outrun them!
There was no need for seatbelts. Junior told us that you packed the moonshine so tight, you couldn't move if you wanted to!
What is the secret to good moonshine? Junior says the purer you can get it...the bettter...Junior says his is triple stilled!
The Carolina Shine Fest is Saturday 10am-5:30 and Sunday Noon to 5:30pm. Junior Johnson will make appearances Saturday 3pm-4:30pm and Sunday 2pm-4:30pm.
Get a tour of Piemdont Distillers, the only legal distillery in North Carolina.
